I quite like it during the day-locals and students/visitors mingle easily. Has a reputation for trouble on weekend evenings. margate1 - 13 Aug 2015 13:26 |
Absolutely awful place with rude staff, aggressive doormen who want to pick a fight with everyone cos they dont have the intelligence to do anything else. Wouldnt recommend this pub to anyone who has any class. Its basically a pikey pub run by idiots for knobheads that cant get served anywhere else. kaz1 - 9 Aug 2014 01:41 |
Pretty friendly, laid-back sort of pub, with wooden floor, beams, history and a boxing connection, judging from the photos on the wall. There is nothing special to drink here (meaning no real ales, real ciders, decent wine) but of course does have the usual mass market brands. It also has wireless internet. During the afternoons and evenings it is fairly quiet, except Friday and weekend evenings when the young people of town cluster there like iron filings round a magnet, and it stays open late. Occasionally has music, and also has an extra bar for busy periods, and a surfeit of TVs usually all showing the same thing. Codrotten - 21 Oct 2011 19:19 |
A bit surprised at the negative reports. I went in here to watch a band during the folk week and the atmosphere seemed fine. The staff were certainly friendly enough. Ok it wasn't late into the evening and the clientele was mostly over 40. Perhaps things degenerate nearer to closing time. A pity there was no real ale but otherwise all was ok. outtamehead - 7 Aug 2011 18:48 |
Got a bit of a rep for trouble but ive never had a particularly bad time in there. Has a good drink offer between 7-9 on fridays and saturdays and is usually pretty empty during this period for some reason so its a good place to start on a night out stokes1982 - 8 Jun 2011 15:11 |
