I love this pub. It is in a beautiful village and serves nice pub grub. It is a little more expensive than some others. The staff are nice and the people who eat and drink here are lovely as well. They welcome children and we regularly stop for a refreshment with the kids and dogs after a country walk. I was very surprised by the other reviews. If unsure I would say check it out and decide for yourself. The only downside to this pub is that the garden is next to the road that runs through the village and it can be noisy at times. If you like an ultra pretentious, middle class type of person like something out of little Britain, this place may be up your street. The bar staff have there heads so far up there own arses they can barely see the light of day. The real ale on tap is not particularly well kept and damn expensive. This pub is proper poncey stock broker belt. If you have any sense AVOID! Masterpint47 - 10 Jan 2014 19:47 |
Unfortunately met some Friends here for Lunch I wanted to try a Pub local to me in Oxted as I've heard the Food is excellent plus last time I visited I was very impressed with the Service, I was out voted as a couple in our group live closer to here. Nice enough to sit outside, if you can get a Table, its quite a small area, inside is soulless, Staff are pleasant, a tall young lad served us and he was very attentive. Just get the impression that they cant wait to get your money other Staff seemed very pushy and annoyed when you didn't order Dessert or Coffee, its very over priced luckily we only had one Glass of Wine each at £7 that's ridiculous, food nothing exciting although my Calamari Starter was nice the rest was mediocre. Our bill came to £84 for Lunch ! 2 Starters 4 Mains 4 Glasses of Wine & Sparkling Water, they are trying to be something they are not, can't say I will be rushing back. BrendaO - 31 Jul 2013 18:12 |
I never give reviews but in the case of The Bull I felt obliged to just so other people don't waste their money in this god awful pub - if you can call it a pub. Normally most pubs have a welcoming feel to them but the staff in The Bull and - who I presume is the manager/landlord - are the unfriendliest, rudest and most arrogant people you can find. We were a group of 4 , all over 35 years old, and tried it in there for the first time last week. The bar staff were rude and arrogant (god knows who they think they are) and it didn't help when we noticed we'd been shortchanged too on our 3rd round of drinks.....they did rectify it when we told them they'd shortchanged us, but it seemed stange they didn't give us too much change lol and they didn't even apologise. My wife was drinking white wine which wasn't cold enough and to make matters worse the first glass had a lipstick stain on - so that had to be changed too. The food we had seemed as though it had come out of a readymade frozen packet from a cheapO supermaket & been microwaved, it was vile and it wasn't heated up properly so we all had to leave our food on the plates. It was very expensive too for such a bad cheap tasting meal that my dog would turn his nose up at. Portion size was a big rip off too but as we couldn't eat the muck that didn't matter... wished we'd bought a hot dog from a van instead. I did tell the barstaff about the bad food but the bloke just turned his nose up and then walked off to serve a customer. Talk about rude! Such a horrible miserable pub with lukewarm wine and beer, lousy food and rude arrogant staff. Unpleasant smell in the toilets too... One to drive past even if you're gasping. peterjohnnson - 19 Oct 2012 08:47 |
I see what you mean mate, i'm 23 and the girl at the till obviously didnt want me to be there despite showing ID - the other guys behind the bar seem like complete twats - I swear they've just left school? There aren't even any signs saying that u must be over a certain age... andrew60 - 18 Nov 2011 23:09 |
