What can I say? The pub is now sadly closed but i have fallen off the train at Bordersley for the past 40 years and found myself at the bar in the Clements. Phyllis was indeed a legend and worked in there matchdays for longer than i care to remember. So many happy memories, i even had the odd slap or two in there. digwell09 - 26 Jun 2013 02:40 |
Sadly now closed. Was a dirty and ragged sh*thole but it had a certain charm about it. AlistairVonLion - 24 Apr 2013 14:55 |
Convivial atmosphere when I walked place a couple of weeks ago. A couple of hundred regulars, drinking on the pavement outside. Half a dozen police vans stopping them from meeting and greeting, a large number of visitors from East London, being given a gratis guided tour of Digbeth and Bordesley by the local community bobbies. son_of_odin - 22 Nov 2010 13:40 |
Some pubs you want to go in, convenience, interest, curiosity... Some pubs you don`t want to go in, personal taste, choice, reason..... Some pubs there`s no point going in..... For me The Clements is the last one..... I`ve walked past this pub on numerous occasions heading to the footie ground, under the urine drenched railway arch past the fast food shops.... What`s the point of going in there? Well, beer quality must be quite low on it`s agenda going by the samples outside on display - Brand lager, lashed Guiness, blue alcopops. Food? Yup, steak sarnie. It`s a hardcore football fan venue - the regulars stand outside on match day, glowering at everybody and anybody - the Police (Who must love the overtime) fellow supporters who aren`t hardcore enough, each other and Godforbid any away supporters who wander past lost.....they love it! What`s the point lads? Blastbeat - 9 Sep 2010 10:58 |
Run down back street pub, used by Birmingham City fans on match days. Beer is crap, No cask ale, service rubbish, Phyllis the 80+ year old bar maid is a legend and its good for the crack on match days! stevane - 26 Mar 2010 15:36 |
