user reviews of Bell Inn, Chittlehampton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A pub this good is very rare these days and if you live in Chittlehampton then you are very lucky to have such a pub in your village.

All the ales had (I had 5) were under three pounds and the Exmoor Ale was fantastic.

The village is a lovely place with a huge square and it is set in proper Devon countryside.

This is a very good pub indeed and in my top ten of best pubs ever.

10/10

A local pub we normally use weren't able to accommodate us this year and recommended The Bell. Absolutely beautiful setting and a wondeful evening was had. Busy, but people VERY friendly and welcoming. Incredible choice of food / drink - and they were very flexible with the menu, to suit a couple of picky eaters ! Staff were lovely. Great atmosphere, in the busy pub / eating area. An absolute gem, which our party of 9 are happy to recommend / rate highly. Will definitely be going back - as often as we can !!

Fantastic pub: probably my favourite in the whole of Britain (and I've drunk in plenty. Excellent, well kept, ever-changing beer. Brilliant, cheerful staff. Tasty, inexpensive food. Fabulous with kids. Friendly, welcoming locals. The Bell is one of the main reasons we used to travel 500 miles every year to holiday in Chittlehampton. In fact, that's my only complaint: it's too far away from Fife.

Absolutely cracking pub. Excellent beer quality, great interior, packed in May, really good food (best venison I've ever had), staff bent over backwards to help and be sociable - and they were run ragged on Friday night.
Beer garden and conservatory, lovely setting in village square.
Don't be surprised if they don't answer the phone. Did have a few kids (all ages) in, not a problem though. 9.5/10.

Comfortably the best place we visit on Tour and looking forward to seeing Mark and the local characters in August. Ales of great quality and usually 6 or 7 on to try. Tasty Menu from 12 til 2 and a regular entry in the Good Beer Guide. ALWAYS good.
