It is very remote, sat alone at the end of the Woodhead Pass, but clearly does well. Welcoming real fire burning as we entered, a decent range of Barnsley bitters and a short, but interesting menu, although not that cheap. No time to eat on this occasion, but worth a repeat visit when the clock isn't against us. Gristy - 19 Mar 2012 10:38 |
Not easy to get to without transport. The one hour bus ride from Barnsley plus a good half an hours walk in the teeth of a howling gale was well worth it when I stumbled through the door to me met by a wonderful open fire. Good range of beers. Food was a little upmarket and pricey for a pub (I remember the days when I could get a chunky cheese or ham roll) but this place is a small hotel as well. Will definately mark this pub as one to return to. THATOLDMAN - 24 Jan 2012 08:22 |
