We went there yesterday to eat (in the mostly empty restaurant) but the Purple Moose HM Best really was rather good and better than any pint that I had in nearby New Quay. The bar was so popular that drinkers were sitting outside on the harbour wall with their plastic glasses. paul_d102 - 23 Jun 2019 17:46 |
Once upon a time a pub, but now a highly-quality (slightly chi-chi) hotel with a bar attached. Loud and lacking intimacy, there are better pubs elsewhere in town. Fantastic harbourside setting, though. mozzzzzz - 10 Sep 2014 14:54 |
Such a shame they did not take the order correctly and as such one of the diners did not receive a main meal. When politely questioned it's whereabouts, a stroppy waitress told us we had not ordered it. and threw the order on the table. "we were inthe wrong " apparently. The manager was not interested, and a new meal was offered after the other meals had been eaten. This was refused, due to this and the manner in which we had been spoken to. We just wanted to get out. In this pub, youhave to be someone to get served correctly. We will not be going back for sometime now. I don't like being treated as a lesser person. And that is how they have treated us. As a side the other meals were less than great. The steak sauce had soaked into the wooden plater, and all meals left the diners still hungry. Over rated and over priced. Zoj - 25 Feb 2012 22:38 |
I had a tidy pint of house bitter, brewed by the Purple Moose brewery. However, a pint and a small glass of wine came to over 7. I expect this in London, but not in rural Wales. I guess they need to charge those prices to keep the decor up, which is quite bar like and not the most welcoming. I had the burger with Snowdonia cheddar. It was good, but the burger needs to be made of fattier meat; mine kept falling apart. Also, 11 is extortionate for, what is, a rural Wales pub. Nice place, but don't park your London price sensibilities! I_love_Ellie - 1 Sep 2011 15:06 |
The Harbourmaster enjoys a fine location overlooking Aberaeron harbour. The quayside was packed with drinkers on a sunny Saturday evening. Watching the local youth dive continuously into the harbour was quite amusing. Inside is mainly for diners, but 2 real ales. My Welsh is not too brilliant. But I am guessing that the house beer Harbourmaster Cwrw Gorau from Bragdy Mws Pws is actually a Purple Moose Beer. In addition, they also had Glaslyn Ale from the same brewery. Gwynt y Ddraig Orchard Gold was available in bottles. A reasonably nice place, if not a bit too snooty. The plastic glasses also lose it a point. But the setting is the key draw. blue_scrumpy - 4 Jul 2011 19:11 |
