The Star & Garter was my second Stafford pub of the day on Wednesday. It's close enough to the town centre to be considered and far enough to ensure it's not busy. There is a central bar with plenty of seating, as well as outdoor seating at the front and in a rear garden. Ales were Timothy Taylor Landlord, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Black Sheep Best Bitter & Marstons England's Pride. The real cider was Westons Family Reserve. My attention was also diverted to an unusual wooden barrel on the bar, which contained a fizzy cider from South West Orchards, which I had not seen before. The barmaid was friendly. Far better than I had expected. blue_scrumpy - 22 Apr 2016 21:27 |

No Ales. Sign outside offering the tenancy didn't inspire confidence and when I got in - no ales - but the woman behind the bar did recommend another pub with ales. Could be a good pub, shame. Killian42 - 17 Sep 2010 23:52 |

Only one ale on when I went (on a sat morning), which was Wadworths 6X. It was a nice pint though and I found both staff and regulars very friendly and welcoming. anonymous - 4 Oct 2009 10:52 |
