I think I visited this place at the wrong time ! It looked the kind of place that is lively in the evening (various live acts were advertised), but at 2pm on a Saturday, there was only one other person there ! Dark colours predominate, red and brown and black. Tables are arranged around the sides of the largish room, but with a standing area by the bar. The tables had very large heavy candle-holders on them (complete with candles), but they weren’t lit. There were only 2 real ales available (one other pump was blank), Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord. Obviously I chose the latter, and it was reasonable. I had read that the jukebox was “excellent”, and during my visit, blues was being played, which made a nice change. Martinsh - 1 Feb 2016 22:35 |
New owner, new look. Serving well kept cask ales. Landlord, Spitfire and Unicorn at time of visit. Friendly staff. The pub is clean and has fresh new look with work on going. Good food in particular the home-made pizzas and great Sunday lunches. Toilets clean and fresh but a bit care worn, a revamp is on its way. There seems to be a curious custom of customers throwing their loose change into the urinal, don't forget to make a wish. seems to have lots of live entertainment advertised. A pub I will return to. alelien - 1 Feb 2012 15:22 |
Landlord and Spitfire on in here when we visited - 18 for 6pts of Landlord - nice pub, wattle and daub a feature - one of our crowd thought there was a 'hamster' smell. There were some decks set out so looked like there were going to be some music played later - come to think of it the staff did look a bit DJ like... kernott1 - 30 Dec 2011 09:49 |
