I think the last comment about this plave being a plastic paddy place is pretty accurate. I came in here and saw flags that said 'you can't beat the Irish' and about the Easter Rising of 1916. Seemed friendly enough and a bit less chaotic than the Blarney Stone down the street. Guinness only cost 2.40 and was better than Pogue Mahones so it might be worth checking this place out as it's one of the better places for a Guinness around Liverpool from my experience. Bog standard plastic Paddy pub. Barmaid had a face like a bull chewing a wasp when I tried making conversation. I won't be in any particular rush to return, to be sure. realalerules1983 - 19 Nov 2015 10:55 |
This is a pub that I've passed many times. But I finally ventured in yesterday to see if it had any real ale on, as it got a mention in the local CAMRA guide recently. There was one solitary handpull at the end of the bar. But alas it was unclipped. The keg range was Tetleys Dark Mild, Carling, Caffreys, Worthingtons, Coors Light, San Miguel and of course Guinness. As the name suggests, this is an Irish bar with quite an authentic feel. It's busy and boisterous with Irish music playing. There appears to be quite a few live acts. The bar area was very crowded. But there were enough staff to keep everybody reasonably happy. Tables were at a premium. I'm not sure I'd return. But it was at least better than I had anticipated. blue_scrumpy - 18 Oct 2015 16:34 |
Not the best pub in town but the Guinness is good and the staff very friendly. Live music, and good atmosphere Jey - 11 Dec 2014 11:26 |
Came here by accident with my sister and her Greek boyfriend. Oh dear! Got a round of a pint of Strongbow and two bottles of Bud for less than a fiver though. Never again! mattbeer - 5 Apr 2012 01:03 |
