user reviews of Crown Hotel, Market Drayton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Shocking. This place has not only reverted into what it was three years ago but has actually gotten worse and is a nicely decorated version of the awful pub just down the road. The star I think it is. For a couple of years we've had great trips to Drayton and great times in this pub, but I think future canal holidays will not involve Market Drayton anymore. Bad show Marstons.

Had works Christmas lunch at the Crown. At the best, it was 'average' - Even those who prefer their vegetables 'al dente' found they were just that bit too hard....the chef wasn't too impressed when advised of this. Bigger portions wouldn't go amiss.

Large town centre pub with three distinct drinking areas, one of which is used for pool. Never seems very busy but usually had one or two well-kept real ales from the Marston's range (Pedigree and Hobgoblin last time I called).

Called Friday lunch. Barman/landlord(?) demonstrating card trick, between pulling pints (and very good too). Staff and customers very friendly.
Marston's bitter, excellent - 2.50/pint - (why bother with Pedigree).
Also had first class fish, chips and mushy peas (good helping).
