Although not on our Inn Way route - we added this one into our days walking, as one was closed earlier. What a result - a beautiful pub - smell of home cooked food, roaring fire and black sheep in top order. Glad we came. Photos at my walking blog - http://bit.ly/1YHbnJy Mappiman - 20 Apr 2016 18:29 |
Happened upon this pub in the pouring rain and received a warm welcome. Sadly it was too late to eat that day but I sampled a couple of excellent Yorkshire Dales Brewing Co. pints and vowed to return. On my second visit months later I enjoyed the same warm welcome, equally excellent ale and a delicious dinner to boot! This place is a must if you're in the area. fazerblue - 6 May 2012 18:21 |
Still no changes here. 5 real ales available and all well kept. An excellent pint of Yorkshire Dales, Citron Seat on Saturday afternoon. Lunchtime and evening menus looked interesting. Rocky53 - 20 Feb 2012 10:17 |
Can't add much to alexale's review other than to wholeheartedly endorse it. Passed this pub many times walking round the Dales with the dog for four days, stopped on each occasion for an excellent pint of Theakston's Best and a warm welcome for us both. One of the few in the area that is open all day as well. hedropsforglory - 25 Sep 2009 15:01 |
This is an excellent and characterful hostelry which scores highly on all counts. Well kept real ales, including Black Sheep bitter and a range of beers brewed by the Yorkshire Dales Brewery in nearby Askrigg, are served in a small cosy bar. A separate restaurant, which extends into a rustically furnished adjacent room, offers a wide range of freshly cooked, appetising dishes promptly served by efficient staff. Overseen by a landlord and his family who clearly take a pride in their business, it is to be hoped that plans to extend the bar into the adjacent residents' lounge (there are seven en suite letting bedrooms) do not detract from this pub's considerable charms. alexale - 28 Jun 2009 19:57 |
