Good for just a drink or food from their posh menu (book). Only gripe was a lack of a dark beer with 3 out of the 4 real ales very similar in style. Probably the best pub in the village. Steamer1 - 3 Aug 2016 16:41 |
Now has a new set of handpumps so 4 beers on at weekends and busy times. Still concentrating on local microsRooms have been revamped for Coast to Coast walkers for B&B Rocky53 - 21 Oct 2014 16:33 |
Top notch pub in a lovely village, and well worth visiting if you're in the area. They obviously focus on the food, which is excellent and fairly priced (as others have said, always pretty busy so worth booking a table). But they also have a good selection of local ales and if you just want a drink then you're still made welcome. Also worth noting that the service was faultless and all the staff we had interactions with were both friendly and genuine. aaroncp - 13 Sep 2014 18:59 |
Superb pub in all respects. Specialises in local ales and the food is fantastic. Because of that it looks a bit foodie and one would be in the minority if only going for a beer but are still made welcome round the bar area. Steamer1 - 12 Jul 2014 12:47 |
Although this pub does concentrate on food (which is excellent with a changing specials board) it is worth visiting for the beers. There are 3 handpumps which have a range of beers mainly from Yorkshire breweries. Today there was Walls Brewers Gold, York Decade and a 5% IPA from Roosters. The lanlord is knowledgable about his beer and had a number from Walls Hop Studio and Salamander to put on over Easter. Walkers are welcome and recently there has been a small extension built on the back which means there is always room for drinkers. Rocky53 - 27 Mar 2013 17:33 |
