| Called into this pub at the weekend and they didnt have any real ale on.... in fact thats the third time thats happened... do yourself a favour, give it a miss and head towards the Salutation or Cask Corner.... this pub used to be a belter in the 80's early 90's and was a fave with the rock and indie lot... superb ale and jukebox... however, its not like that any more !! | I was heading for The Salutation when I came across The Hallcross but I didn'y have time to go in (perhaps in hindsight I should have) but I remember this place when - many years ago - it brewed its own beers (Stocks Brewery?) They must have been one of the pioneers of the real ale/micro-brewery revolution so perhaps the owners might like to start brewing again?? Just a thought!!! mcroyal - 15 Mar 2012 13:24 |
| Yesterday was my first visit. It's a virtually unspoilt backstret local with a number of small bars/snugs. There is a friendly welcome with conversation encouraged. Yesterday the two guest beers were York Constantine and Betwixt Dark Matter, in addition to the regular Jennings Ale, Burton Ale and Tetley Bitter/Mild. I'd certainly come here again.
