user reviews of Admiral Rodney, Swadlincote

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Paid a visit during the week and there were a couple of real ales on, including a fantastic Welsh pale ale. By the look of the chalk board and the paraphernalia they obviously serve quite a variety of beers.

Very quiet on the night I visited but friendly staff and probably worth a visit when they have something on, e.g the “Cheese Night”.

The pub is a traditional, friendly village pub offering 5 real ales. Marstons Pedigree and 4 ever changing beers from local and national craft breweries and the older independent breweries.

The landlord tries to keep at least one hoppy, golden ale, a browner ale and a dark ale always on tap. They won the Burton & South Derbyshire District CAMRA pub of the year award in 2007.

There is a quiz night on Fridays, karaoke on Sunday, and other seasonal events.

The rear of the pub looks out over the Hartshorne Village Cricket pitch where you can relax with a drink and enjoy watching the village team on a warm summer afternoon.

The pub serves traditional Sunday lunches. It is advisable to book. They run a Cheese Society Night (As featured on Radio 2's Chris Evans Show) every 1st Monday of the Month at 9:15pm onwards, everyone welcome with their portion of cheese.
