| This place calls itself a "Country Pub and Kitchen", why kitchen? I don`t want to eat and drink in somebody`s kitchen! And a country pub it most certainly is NOT! I wandered in after a walk nearby and stood out like a sore thumb - suits and cocktail dresses seemed to be the norm. No-one was eating and only half-pints and fruit-juices were being drunk. | Refurbished last year and all the better for it. Nice beer garden. Usually has IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale on draft plus a good selection of wines. Service is good although does get busy at weekends. We have been consistently disappointed with the food though. The meals are relatively expensive (�8-�10) for a main but are nothing special. Don't get me wrong they're not bad, they're just overpriced and of decent but by no meals amazing quality. If you DO want an amazing meal out for similar prices try the White Bear, Stretton or The Elm Tree at Heath both of which are far, far, far superior. jeanniej - 24 May 2009 19:23 |
