What the previous reviews fail to stree enough is that yes it is next to the river (not canal) on one side, but if you fancy sitting by the entrance with its nice outside terrace and brasserie-style tables the only view you get is of the vast tarmac expanse of Salisbury coach park (not the car park) with its loading/unloading of coachloads of tourists and the attendant public toilets.
Whilst I had a perfectly acceptable pint of Old Speckled Hen, and the brasserie-style menu looked interesting if a little expensive, the location is unfortunate and off-putting.

Back in business with Greene King IPA and Speckled Hen both available and tasting good. No pub food yet except for (presumably bought in) cakes during the day. Handy location by the canal and close to the main car park used by tourists.

All I can say.... It's the best place in the world for boating and brassing, even saw my old mate Kilometrepork in here. He had his Chippendale gear on. He offered to throw himself into the mix for a bit of my boat, but my bread is buttered on one side only. Still apart from that... Best 84 hours of my life.

3 ales on, reduced prices at some times (though I got a bit confused about when, and I don't think they like to call it "Happy Hour"). Pleasant and convenient location, great for Summer drinks by the River Avon. Good place to park too if you're driving into the City centre or the wife ants to shop in Sainsbury's.
