Bit disappointing to find a pub in such an out of the way village that doesn't have a decent garden. Food, beer and service just about acceptable but certainly nothing special. Psi - 8 Sep 2011 09:47 |
Country pub set in a picturesque valley south of Builth Wells. Parking is on the lane outside. You'll probably whack your head off the low doorframe the first time you walk in. For successive visits, you'll probably learn from the error of your ways. Once inside nursing your wounds, you'll find a couple of rooms. The main bar is popular with local drinkers and diners alike, with tables set aside for meals. A smaller room leads to the toilets and doubles as a games room. The pub is hosting a beer festival this weekend, with 12 real ales. However, only 3 were on during our visit - Otter Ale, Wickwar IKB and Wyre Piddle Piddle in the Spring. The cider was Stowford Press. The first of 19 establishments we tried in Wales over a couple of days and certainly one of the better ones. blue_scrumpy - 30 May 2011 13:54 |
An excellent little pub, set in beautiful country, though it can take a bit of finding. It was saved from residential development a few years ago by concerted local action. Stayed a night there last year, in comfortable and well equipped accommodation. I can't recall what the beer was, but I know that it was sufficiently drinkable for me to consume several pints. The food was reasonably priced and well cooked - nothing fancy, just good pub grub, well done. Very friendly and welcoming landlord and landlady, and a healthy gathering of pleasant locals of all shapes and sizes. Altogether well worth finding. earlydrinker - 11 Mar 2010 23:24 |
The 2 Cask Ales on were of a reasonable standard, average food but very expensive. In a nice setting and worth a visit if passing. Better than the rubbish in Builth town that is for certain! GarmischP - 2 Jun 2009 18:08 |
A lovely village local, just off the beaten track but easily reachable whn turning off the A470. There's a couple of good ales on in decent form, along with some good no-nonsense food. The interior is pretty large so there's plenty of places to sit. Service was friendly on my visit and will make a point of returning again in future. Quinno - 1 Apr 2009 17:07 |
