Closed some time ago, sadly. histman - 28 Aug 2016 22:16 |
Nice local with really friendly people behing the bar. Been in a couple of times, they normally seem to have a guest ale on, as well as the house ale, which I think was Marston's Pedigree. At lunchtime a lot of the menu didn't seem to be on but I went for a burger and that was fantastic! In the evening it does seem to be very very quiet, or maybe I just picked a bad night? dyyony - 7 Oct 2013 11:45 |
Changing hands again by the look of it - temporary management in. And closed on a Friday afternoon/evening at half five. Was on a night out in Melbourne so wasn't going to walk back to Kings Newton later to see if it had opened up. If they can't be bothered opening up, I can't be bothered giving it any points. twohalves - 14 Nov 2012 19:33 |
Really enjoyed my visit! Nothing flash about the place but I did get one of the best burgers I have had since moving to the UK from, err, Melbourne! The beer was good too. JonnyConsumer - 5 Jan 2012 16:03 |
Having been somewhat critical of the Pack Horse previously in my review of 22/05/09, after a visit on 31/3/11, I have to give a much more positive update and agree with the previous two reviews. Marstons Burton Bitter, Pedigree and Ringwood Boondoggle were available on the handpumps. The Pedigree was a tad below par it was quite drinkable but it was either towards the end of an old cask or the beer lines were due for cleaning. No problems with the food. It is home made from mainly locally suppliers and the portions are generous sized. The young ladies serving the drinks and the food were pleasant and efficient. For me the downside was the quality of the Pedigree, but viewed overall this is a pub in the ascendancy. Keep up the good work guys you are certainly heading in the right direction 8/10 steve2905 - 1 Apr 2011 03:10 |
