Another closed pub. A shame, as this looks like a nice setting in a tranquil village. But that's probably the reason it has shut down. blue_scrumpy - 17 Feb 2017 08:21 |
Seems to have changed hands, decor slightly less like someone's house, more country hotel-ish. Excellent service, including the (I assume) very daughter of the proprietors as waitress. Pints included Martsons EPA - never had before, very nice - and good old Thatchers Gold. I initially had reservations when I saw the menu as it was short, pretty basic, and suspiciously cheap... but it was great. Generous portions and all home made. Johnnytheboy - 12 Jan 2013 15:30 |
Very nice. Very good - no, excellent - food. Bizarrely quiet on a sat lunchtime. Nice scrumpy from Lulworth Cove and a Lyme Regis bitter which was ok too. Seems to be Marstons other than that. Landlord personable, waitress charming. Decor of bar like being in someone's house. Johnnytheboy - 30 Jun 2012 18:04 |
We went here because of recomendations we had seen on the internet. We were staying locally at some holiday cottages and took a walk with our dogs to the pub. We checked the dogs could go in and all seemed to be good. Pretty busy pub, food looked quite nice, small menu. We ordered and paid for some drinks and were told to sit down they would bring them over. 25 minutes later we were still waiting, i tried about 5 times to get the owners attention as she flew past me, clearly busy whilst staff stood around doing nothing. I aksed how long the drinks may be, I was told abruptly she was busy and they would be there soon, we waited some more and asked again. She told me she was busy and she would do it, all the waiting staff must have been too young to serve so why was she delivering food to the tables and not serving behind the bar? Anyway we finally asked for our money back as it didn't seem the drinks were forthcoming and she started shouting at the staff to give us our money back, shouting at us that she was fed up with us and told my 60 yr old father to **ss off! Charming! We took our money and spent it in lots of other beautiful pubs around the area, with good food and very good service. A good job she can rely on locals because if that's how she treats holiday makers in holiday season it wont last long. nickie_lou - 19 Feb 2010 15:54 |
