Can't really review the place - it never seems to be open! Johnnytheboy - 25 Feb 2017 18:31 |
An effective pit stop on the journey west, no nonsense pub grub is the order of the day and a simple menu of jacket potatoes and various items with chips functions well. Two of the ales on were Cornish - curiously while the atmosphere was low key of a Friday lunchtime. BoehmBawerk - 1 Sep 2013 18:07 |
after having the pub for so many years with such a bad reputation it is finally good to see this pub with the right owners and being run well. the pub is placed on the main road with fantastic surroundings of hambledon hill. Superb food ranging from steak pie through to the amazing sunday roasts cooked superbly. A great pub to also pop in for a drink with a wide range of lagers and also the famous Doombar and Ringwood bitter. Fantastic place to enjoy for the whole family or just a quiet drink. ollyc - 26 Jul 2011 21:29 |
Well, it's good to hear that a pub has changed so much! I haven't been there for years, mainly because it had such a bad reputation. The last time I was there it was obviously so far downhill there was nothing below it. I shall try it again when next that way. Grand_Mufti - 2 May 2011 22:54 |
Visited while on holiday in Dorset. Very friendly, family run, pub. Really nice home cooked steak pie. The 2 draught beers (Doombar and Ringwood bitter I think) were well kept. Old pub but with a lighter feel about it. Has its own skittle alley. Gorgeous view from the beer garden of Hambledon hill and its prehistoric hill fort. ike_beer - 2 May 2011 22:37 |
