A gem......good food, good beer, real fire in the winter whats not to like.... ridleyman - 1 Jun 2019 17:29 |
An odd name for a pub in the middle of Cornwall, but you have to understand the strong connection between Cornwall and the mining industry, such as here, where a returning son of Cornwall had made a fortune in the silver mines of Mexico. The pub was closed for a year or so and bought as a free house in 2015 by a local couple who have removed the pool table, the tatty furniture and carpets and turned it into a very well run pub with excellent food. Two ales on tap at time of visit including St Austell 'Proper Job' which was in very good condition. The pub has a bar area and two further rooms set out for food. The only slight downside is parking which is limited, but well worth a detour if passing. ridleyman - 12 Mar 2017 11:26 |
Nothing wrong with this pub in any way whatsoever, a warm greeting, decent beer, very nice toilets( I checked that the wife was content with hers).A pool Table a new dart board and decent food at reasonable prices. In an out of the way area about a mile from Marazion and a mile on to Penzance, a decent stop pint on my pub crawl along the S.W. coastal path. slerpy - 15 Jul 2013 19:44 |
Quiet, friendly. Food OK if fairly standard. A decent pint jillbert - 4 Jul 2012 15:52 |
The name is pretty historical name from mining days rather than a modern theme pub as such. There used to be a fairly manky parrot near the bar but the ales were always good. An interesting establishment for its history and the fact that it's set in to the middle of a terrace. misfithound - 8 Sep 2010 16:09 |
