A fine looking place from the outside in a very decent location too.

Inside was a slight disappointment being a sports bar but I actually did quite like it in here and would pop in again.

Used to be a cracking pub when Nora and Middi had it, they retired and the pub had a major overhaul. It was still a great pub with an old world charm even tho modern. Good selection of cask and keg beers, and an eclectic mix of locals. That my friends was many years ago. Avoid the place if you value your sanity and life

Popped in here because it started raining.Had one pint of Strongbow and left as getting wet was preferable to remaining.Nothing good to say about the place I'm afraid.

I quite agree with the previous review. Ale fairly indifferent, the place a shadow of its former self - in fact, there is no perceptible connection. After one drink we left, never to return. It, presumably, caters for 'yoof'.

My 2003 Good Pub Guide describes the Globe & Ale House (sic) as a small low ceilinged tavern with lots of old pictures, artifacts and an enthusiastic helpful landlord offering at least 4 ales. Somewhere along the lines it all went to pot then. Ales seem to be a bit of a lucky dip as to availability and when I did pluck up the enthusiasm to enter during one of its quiter moments, all I found was a poor quality Old Speckled Hen. The other 2 pumps were off (they also appeared to be Greene King IPA and Abbott although this isnt actually a Greene King to my knowledge). The interior has been ripped apart in an unsympathetic refurbishment (presumably when the Ale House moniker also disappeared) and only a remnant of a window pane near the front doorway remains from any of its traditional dcor or furnishings. Plasmas come at you from all angles but it is compettion with the music - either show the match or play the music not both please! The only thing of note is an old newspaper front page but this is now concealed by a fruit machine. You can tell where the priorities lie in this place. On a Friday and Saturday night the place is crawling with meat heads and disco dollies but the general public on the street are kept safe by the bouncers. A total waste of what was once probably a half decent pub and out of the 50 odd pubs I visited during the week, this was certainly not one of the better ones.
