the village that this pub is in, is just impossibly beautifull. from the green rolling hills on all sides to the stone houses on the bendy road stoke abott is just gorgeous. and the pub does not let the side down. a wonderfull big stone building, traditional features inside including a lovely fireplace and low ceilings (so refreshing that this place has not become a restaurant or gastro pub). Palmers beers on offer from a very friendly bar maid. the garden is a nice size and grants you more views of the surrounding countryside. CHELSEA_on_tour - 10 Jun 2014 08:38 |
We called at this pub for lunch but discovered it is closed on Mondays! And in peak season in a popular tourist area! Duh! classic0904 - 13 Aug 2013 14:20 |

We have just returned from a cracking week in Dorset staying in Soke Abbott and the New Inn was our local, it is a fantastic pub with suprisingly good food not just you run of the mill pub food but quality resturant food at non resturant prices(this chef knows how to cook a steak like no other), the landlord/landlady are very welcoming and will do all they can to seat you in what is a small local inn even if you didn't book(i recommend booking its very popular), nothing is too much trouble for these guys and i strongly recommend you try it let me know what you think. weemankent - 3 Apr 2011 15:46 |
