Good range of RAs, and well kept. I think it has changed hands recently. Welcomed in, despite only going for a quick drink. Fairly busy for a Wednesday lunchtime and have heard good reviews of the food. Jules_B - 25 Sep 2013 15:01 |
Greenheart and Melody have pretty much summed up this pub. Bar is attractive and quirky but drinkers with no food are the pariahs. My son took his family here a few weeks ago and was very disappointed. Staff and Licensee are too far up their own a*ses for their own good. They have lost sight of their aim to the great god Food. Shame. Honeybadger - 27 Jul 2012 09:29 |
Stopped of here for lunch with my Wife & Mother after visiting the Daffodil Fair at Mells. My Mother ordered the Steak & Kidney pie with veg and had no complaints. However my wife & I only wanted a light lunch & ordered the jacket potato topped with bacon & brie, & after a long wait, that's exactly what we got. We were expecting to get a piping hot jacket potato topped with lashings of Crispy grilled bacon & melted brie. What we got in reality was a barely warm potato, with a few pieces of flaccid bacon which appeared to be boiled & three thumbnail sized pieces of cold brie straight out the fridge along with a salad that consisted of a few salad leaves & bits of chopped tomato with no dressing. The potato was so cold that I could even get a knob of butter to melt on it. We asked the waitress if it could be put under a grill to warm it up & melt & brown the cheese. It came back about a minute later, steaming hot & clearly microwaved. To add insult to injury the cost of 2 jacket potatoes & one pint of beer was nearly 18. I left feeling not just totally dissapointed, but thoroughly ripped off. Definately not reccomended. greenheart - 9 Apr 2012 16:17 |
New to the area, my husband and I were looking for a cozy place for a good meal, and as we had been to The Bell with a celebratory party in July, we chose to come here. We were offered a tiny table in a doorway, and had no sooner settled when we were asked to order our food. We had not seen the menu yet, but as soon as the menu was produced, we were asked to make a choice. This person had no sooner left our table with a polite request to leave us to decide on our meal, when another appeared at our side and demanded to know what we would eat. As we had not even been allowed enough time to READ through the limited and expensive menu, nor had we tasted our drinks by this stage, we decided to leave them to their rush (only another 3 couples in the pub and we were harassed by at least 4 different serving people at the time) to move somewhere else to enjoy our evening in a more congenial atmosphere. A very disappointing welcome and we will not go there again. Unfortunately, to literally add injury to insult, as we left in pelting rain, my husband ran into a tow bar in the very dark car park and injured his shin badly - this is still not healed, two weeks after the incident. All in all, one of the worst experiences we have had in this area. Melody - 7 Nov 2011 10:02 |
A pleasant country pub serving decent beer. Nice beer garden. Can't comment on the food. MrBlue - 7 Jun 2011 16:53 |
