Spent a very pleasant afternoon here attending a good friend's wedding. Lovely spread, and even better from my point of view Butcombe Bitter, Otter Ale and Sharps Doombar on handpump. Licensee and al the staff who I think were family all did a great job. I've read other comments and I thought interior of pub was clean and welcoming. At a time when tax and other costs are going through the roof and pubs are struggling, this landlord has obviously found a formula for success. Skittles stil payed here on a Friday night. spikefromsurrey - 3 Jun 2011 06:24 |
Another once traditional pub feminised with square leather sofas, Wilkinsons dining furniture and lashings of beige/grey paint (no doubt also from Wilkinsons). Beers are the usual suspects, cold and casque-marked. Seems to impress a lot of the locals, and someone's making a lot of money (for now), but if you're looking for a decent Quantock/Somerset pub, you'll be disappointed. More like sitting in an Argos furniture showroom than a pub. somertel - 1 Aug 2010 22:20 |
As previously stated, not really a drinkers pub. The main area is given over to restaurant style dining, with only a small seated area opposite the bar available to those who are not eating. Perhaps for patrons who are waiting for tables at busier times? Inflation seems to have hit, with the two course option now weighing in at 14.50! Not bad food and friendly staff but not worth a detour if in the area. simonjolty - 22 Apr 2010 01:09 |
Not really my idea of a drinkers pub, but three ales on; Butcombe, Otter and Doombar. Butcombe was far too cold, as, I suspect were the others. That said, the food is excellent, although you're compelled to have two courses, starter and main, or main and dessert, but whatever you choose it's 8-50 for the two, and so it's good value really. Cheerful service, a good menu and pleasant surroundings. The_Final_Arbiter - 12 Nov 2009 11:52 |
