Nice place for a decent pint. We've only eaten there once when it first opened and it was a little bit pricey. Since it has been under new management we haven't been for food but had a look on the menu and it seems better priced. However, don't go if you're fussy about food because it's quite fancy - not typical pub grub. Might want to go for a drink first before deciding whether to have food or not and have a cheeky look at the menu! I guess it depends on the kind of food you're in to. jessandseanlovethepub - 27 Sep 2009 12:27 |
I had Sunday dinner there yesterday, and it was great. not too pricey, and the beers are top notch, well kept and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunateky I over-indulged a little last night and am feel the effects today. Defintely worth a visit Woodie09 - 27 Jul 2009 12:15 |
Eaten here on many lunchtimes.Staff very helpful. The landlady made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Chips are first class.I wil be trying the evening menu very soon. This is what ossett needs a good place to eat and drink without been over priced like other pubs in ossett. Another reason to visit is the cider Addlesfords i think pull me a pint im on my way down cheers. jimmyjelly1 - 7 Apr 2009 16:04 |
Pub has been renivated to a high standard and is very welcoming, all staff are polite and always happy to talk to you, i also ate there and thought the food was superb. Reading through the comments made on here i think that you should'nt knock it till you've tried it. I am not a fan of real ale but i've been converted, 8 fantastic hand pull ales. Will definatley use the silver king again in near future, in fact i've booked to have my daughters wedding reception there. I would recommend this pub to anyone! puddleduck - 10 Mar 2009 15:36 |
Clean pub done out in the Ossett style with stone floors and bare brick walls. Real stove in the restaurant and one in the bar, both unfortunately not lit. Called the Silver King, for what reason it's named after one of the beers I don't know, but would have been better sticking with something relevant like "Victoria"! The beer really is a perfect pint, Excelsior, Silver King and Pale Gold were excellent, crisp and clear in ultra clean glasses. The guest dark beer was excellent also. A Fernandes beer was also available at a bargain 1.90. Had some food here, was good, real homemade chips. Steak and Kidney pie on the specials board was 8.95 so they must have had a reality check. No Jensen Interceptor outside on this visit... brisk - 13 Feb 2009 14:37 |
