I live locally and have been in here a couple of times... It's very much an Irish pub for the Irish in my view... Not overlly welcoming appeal to the place, and every time i've been in there an overwhelmingly Irish clientel, watching gaelic football or irish horse racing... Probably a fantastic place to go IF you are Irish, but I didn't get a very welcoming vibe as an Englishman their with his Wife.....(Although to be fair, no-one was overtly unfriendly towards us..) Nothing wrong with the place though, Although I disagree with Strongers and would rate the Charlotte Despard as a better ventue for a relaxed non Irish sport related destination... Still each to their own... I'm sure some people will love the "intimate" Irish feel of the place.. pmardle - 11 Jan 2011 14:36 |
This was certainly open when I walked past last night, so disregard my December posting. It didn't look particularly welcoming, I must say, so I walked straight past. grecian - 6 May 2009 11:11 |
No sign of life here when I walked past on a Tuesday night the other week. I wonder if it has the gone the way of so many pubs since Strongers visited in September. grecian - 11 Dec 2008 22:41 |
This is a small Irish run pub on Archway road. Lager and Guinness (funnily enough) are available from a friendly enough landlady. It was pretty quiet on the Friday afternoon that I went, but the locals that were in there seemed nice enough. Not bad for the area and better than the Settle Inn next door!
