wow.. odd place. don't be fooled by the original looking frontage, the pub inside has been gutted and turned into something that looks more like an empty indian restaurant. I don't think they know if it's supposed to be a pub a bar or a nightclub,. Early friday night the music was loud and rubbish, staff seemed friendly enough but a very odd atmosphere. only half the lagers were on and no ale. Terrible, but almost worth visiting, just to see how bad it is and wonder what on earth the owners were thinking about. mralistair - 1 Aug 2011 17:28 |
Not much to add to the previous comments - nice sofas? Not a beer-drinkers' pub but staff are very friendly and helpful during the day... zabadak - 1 Apr 2010 17:14 |
This is a strange pub that had a crowd of city gents in one part of the pub and a crowd off the estate over the road in another part. The barmaids English was very basic and I had to repeat that I wanted a half of Guinness three times before she put down the pint glass and filled up a Dreher half glass. The draught selection is limited with a few standard lagers, Staropramen and Magners. There is a plasma screen that was playing away with some random programme that nobody was watching and the only music was from the adverts on said plasma. There are a couple of picnic benches out the front of the pub and there is also a conservatory built on the back of the pub. I had a bit of trouble finding this place and in the end I wish that I hadnt. Strongers - 27 May 2009 16:55 |
Clean pine bar upstairs with a seating area downstairs and what looked like a smoking area too. No real ale or decent bottles, I had Staropramen rather than the Guinness. Restaurant tables at the rear with sofas and high tables in the front and middle respectively. GuideDogSaint - 28 Sep 2008 17:38 |
