First visit to this pub on 8th March. 8 of us for dinner. What can I say...very disappointing. Firsty as we arrived not a very welcoming greeting. Owner was not aware of our pre booked arrival, he went to kitchen and wife (co-owner) was expecting us. Where were the smiles?? Grabbed ourselves some menus from the bar and sat at our table. Not much choice on the menu and we noticed another section behind us that was laid out a bit better. We were told this was the A la Carte section. We could have this menu and we didn't mind sitting in the area we were. Waitress came out with menus (not much different to bar menu). One of our party asked if they had a bread basket and was curtly told no! Placed our orders (still no smiles). Starters arrived all was well. Mains came and this is where it went right downhill. Food was inedible, indescribable and indebin. We voiced our disappointment to the waitress, who to be fair offered us replacements, but after what had been dished up we declined. When it came to the bill we said we were not going to pay for everything. She said she would get the manager. 20 minutes later we were still waiting. One of us went to find out and was told by the manager that he had called the police!!! We were hoping it was the fraud squad so they could arrest the person cooking for impersonating a chef. Joking aside, they were not up for any critique and obviously did not want to see where they are going wrong. A candidate for Gordon Ramsey. Avoid here if you want decent food. May have been cooked at home, but definitely not home cooked. Marathon - 9 Mar 2014 17:44 |
This is the best pub in Hoo by far. A friendly atmosphere and a solid group of regulars make this a nice place for a quiet drink. Good beer and excellent food make it a must out on the Peninsula phonak - 17 Jan 2010 13:27 |
