You will notice two things when you walk into this pub. First of all, the dcor isn't bad. They did an ok job since the last bunch of people brought the place. Secondly, with the exception of about three alcoholics sat in the corner it's completely dead. I've been to this pub about half a dozen times over the last couple of years and I just don't understand how a pub can survive with that little custom. I think the reason why such a nice looking pub is so empty and lacking of atmosphere is due to the staff who not only ignore you, the can actually be rather rude. The beer is average, the food is bearable, but I really are better off somewhere else, maybe in town. Shame the got rid of the pool table too as my son and I used to like playing a few games before heading into town on a Friday night.

The pub itself gets brought and sold every few years so hopefully it wont be too long before some new people take it over that respect their customers.

A rare example of a pub being improved by refurbishment and having a few walls knocked down. Still a locals' pub used primarily for drinking, although it does do lunchtime and evening food. Always a real ale, sometimes Wickwar.

Not brilliant . Mainly a small cosy pub for locals. Good for a cheap drink on a sunday with a game of pool.
