Large open plan pub with several separate areas. En route between the 2 stations. The interior is very much like a chain pub but clean and tidy enough. Yesterday had Pedigree, Ringwood Bitter and Boondazzle (?) on offer. The latter was Ok but nothing special. Service fast (although there was no-one else waiting but i'd have been happier if the barman wasn't holding a conversation at the top of his voice with another customer whilst serving me! cheshirecat - 26 Jul 2015 10:51 |
Dirty glasses surly staff. Gone downhill. keystone - 29 Jul 2011 13:04 |
went in midweek afternoon walking back to dorchester south rail station from town centre.had a pint of hobgoblin which was a good pint. the pub was quiet with only a few in forestwood - 24 Oct 2010 14:32 |
Rather noisy, with the big screen TV showing horse-racing (which is a change from the ubiquitous World Cup garbage, but FAR TOO LOUD nonetheless. No doubt they were competing with the band playing on a stand across the road as part of Dorchester carnival, and a parade of WW11 US Army vehicles of all kinds passing in front of the pub, advertising the Maiden Newton at War event this weekend. One of these, a WW11 tank, had broken down, and was having a bit of trouble moving off again. I had a pint of Ringwood Best served very quickly and efficiently by a friendly young and nervous barmaid. OK, but not my kind of pub, although I must agree with the comments about the comfortable sofas. I left, albeit reluctantly, as I had other places to go. The_Final_Arbiter - 20 Jun 2010 09:08 |
Reasonable pint of Peddy. Didn't try the Ringwood. Quite nice ambience at lunchtime, lots of comfy sofas, vintage brewing wotsits etc. Heating control stuck on 'nuclear' with door open belching clouds hot air into the street through wadged open door. When barman asked why, said it's always been like that. Wasn't really in the mood for a discussion about saving the planet. Nice enough spot to pass an hour waiting for a train at the station 100yds away, but little else to commend. keystone - 12 Mar 2010 16:30 |
