Well presented pub, but with a very cold and unwelcoming atmosphere, they don't seem to like new people. The old barman/landlord is a rude crabby old fart. Fenriz - 3 Mar 2014 17:21 |
The beer was fine and the food looked good. Its a small 'Mom and Pop' pub just around the corner from the railway station. It looked to be a local customer base although the pub angles for footfall from visitors to the nearly wildlife part, Howlett. It has a narrow bar which, at the time of my visit, was on the watch of a gimlet-eyed landlord who maintained a ringside view of the entire floorspace. The table and chairs were a little odd but efficiently wiped down and punctuated with bizarre little jars of Spring flowers. For all its ostensible 'little England' charm, it wasn't a particularly warm or welcoming experience being there on this particular (and unique) occasion. 'Mom' looks like she's doing a great job with the food. 'Pop' and the rest of the team were barely civil. Andromache - 5 Apr 2010 09:17 |
Cycled to this pub from canterbury. This is a gem of a pub. Lovely interior, the food looks great, had a good chat with the landlord. There was two beers on, Gadds - Common Conspiracy and Westerham - Grasshopper, both were in perfect condition. They do a lot of events here and I think I'll be coming back for the st georges day beer festival. This pub is well worth seeking out. Thebman - 29 Mar 2010 10:03 |

Had a lovely lunch here today, nothing fancy but excellently prepared and presented, and good value for the south east. The friendly barmaid welcomed our 2 dogs on the patio, and there was a bowl of water in situ. I had a half each of Gadds 'Seasider' and 'No.5' both of which were in excellent condition, and Harveys Sussex was also on offer. Thoroughly recommend a visit. spikefromsurrey - 30 Jul 2009 22:55 |
