The Village is great for cheap drink Happy Hour all night Monday and till 8pm on other nights. Staff always friendly. Music is not all that great and they repeat the same CD over and over quite a lot but it has become a favourite of mine katrina_23uk - 28 Sep 2011 15:44 |
i agree it is fairly clear that the poster two posts down, is associated with the owner or manager. it does still have the cheap happy hour when you can get a glass of the house nasty in red or white flavours for 2, or a stella. not so bad. it is what it is. occasionally has dancers on the bar, drag, karaoke. no decent ale worth mentioning. not the greatest bar in the world but it's packed for a reason. i think the description 'lowest common denominator' is fair enough, but 2 wine is rare in soho! on the rare occasion i feel that common, i guess it's good to know it's there. benscaro - 26 Aug 2011 18:03 |
Interesting that the previous poster registered as a member left this message and nothing since ... personally don't recognise the place from his descriptioon but then I'm not staff or management there. celt7 - 24 Feb 2009 16:28 |
One of the best locations for one of the best places in soho! The Village is a cosy place with it's newly refurbished surroundings, the crowd is eclectic and friendly. The music is a blend of classic pop with the latest tunes mixed with some disco and house. The price of the drinks is what you would expect for a place in central soho, but they do have an happy hour from 16:00 untill 20:00 from sunday to thursday when their house spirits become 2. It's divided in three floors each one with a different vibe to it. The top floor it's a bouduoir perfect to bring your date for the evening enjoying a romantic cocktail while gazing at one of the most spetacular views of Old compton street. The Ground floor gathers two bars and it's perfect to meet new people or to bring your group of friends to share a bottle of fine wine and watch the amazing go-go dancers at the weekends. The Basement floor has a "clubby" feeling with a darker surrounding, D.J booth and mirror ball to dance the evening away. Definitly a great place to spend evening! peterpan79 - 24 Oct 2008 17:51 |
Right where do I start? You have a bouncer with such arrogance and self importance you get afraid that standing to close in the vicinity of him will suck you in like a black hole. I came here recently to celebrate my 21st birthday party and because I look young even for my age I was patronised like a child. One of the bar staff was rude and when I asked him a perfectly reasonable question he gave the rudest answer. The absolute rudeness of these people is unbelievable. When we say lapse in standards well what applies to here is lapse of giving a bugger. Avoid this cesspit. cwino - 13 Sep 2008 11:54 |
