Doom Bar, Mad Goose, Butty Bach and Shakespeare Brewing Co "The Bard''s Best" were on sale yesterday. I tried a pint of the Bard''s Best which was not as golden as I thought it might be but it still tasted good, perhaps a 7/10. Very family-orientated on Sunday afternoon. paul_d102 - 21 Aug 2017 08:54 |
A sadly disappointing pint of flat Windrush last night. My first choice, Hook Norton's Lion, was not on and Doom Bar and Purity's Mad Goose are just too predictable. Very quiet just before last orders. paul_d102 - 10 Aug 2013 10:40 |
I think this pub must get busy from visitors to the nearby caravan park because, once again, we had to sit in the large back restaurant this evening which, to be fair, seems to have had a bit of a makeover making it more welcoming than last time. Hooky, North Cotswold's Windrush, Hobgoblin and Doom Bar were the ales on offer, Stowford Press was the cider and Peroni, Pilsner Urquell and Stella 4% were the lagers. paul_d102 - 13 Apr 2013 19:04 |
3 1/2 years later and I cannot add much more to steve2905's review. Bombardier, Doom Bar, Hobgoblin and Pedigree on draught - the Bombardier was fine but not exceptional. Did not eat but the menu seemed cheap at 8.95 for most main courses. Very busy on an early Friday evening, we had to sit in the back room which was cold and lacking in atmosphere. paul_d102 - 18 May 2012 21:41 |
The Crown is a clean, spacious, well-kept pub on the main road (B4086) through Tiddington village. There were 4 real ales available when we called in recently. These included Bombardier, Speckled Hen and Hobgoblin plus a brew from a local micro. The Hobgoblin was excellent. The food was pretty good too. Nothing special, just ordinary pub grub, but it was freshly prepared, good quality and reasonably good value for money, given that the pub is only 1 miles out of Stratford. The downside was the lack of atmosphere. That is not a criticism of the staff, who were all very friendly and efficient. It is the rather rambling layout of the pub which has the large dining area segregated from the bar that is the problem. And it probably isnt a problem at all when the pub is busy. We called on a Saturday lunchtime, when given what the pub has to offer, it was surprisingly quiet. As this is the Crowns first BITE review and it is otherwise pretty good, I will be upbeat and give it 8/10 steve2905 - 21 Oct 2008 03:00 |
