A banner outside proclaims this place the winner of something called the Perfect Pub of 2010. The competition must have been less than fierce because it's okay, but nothing special. Newly decorated, smart almost to the point of sterility, friendly and reasonably full with punters watching football on TV (does there really have to be three screens in a small one room pub? Not all of us like the bloody sport). Two handpulls, Old Speckled Hen and Beowulf Chasewater, which I didn't like (too cold and way too bitter for my taste) but others might. 2.95 is extortionate for these parts, though. All in all not a bad pub. It'll never win any (proper) awards but I've been in worse. djw - 14 Apr 2012 21:31 |
I think this is the best pub in Cheslyn Hay, friendly, with TV for sports and area at the front for a beer on a warm night. A really good pint of Highgate Mild Archivist - 24 Jul 2008 22:08 |
Went in here recently to thrash my chum at darts and had a couple of pints of Highgate mild which was simply divine.Seems a decent pub. TheCasualDoctor - 24 Jul 2008 16:22 |
