I like this pub, I go out of the way to go there. I've seen one gig there, a good sound and a good band. The carvery smells delicious. Beer is a little pricey. All the adverts and posters for upcoming performances do make it look slightly tacky in my opinion but well worth going still. My favourite pub in Barlborough. Glock - 19 Dec 2010 12:28 |
Excellent value for money with their food! Very friendly welcome and a pleasant pub all round! King_Viv - 3 Nov 2008 21:27 |
this is a busy, popular village pub situated on the edge of barlborough. we were first invited here to a kareoke competition night some time ago. this turned put to be more like a cabaret show, as the quality of singing by the local contestants has to be heard to be believed! they also hold regular live entertainment on saturdays, and this is also usually a cut above the rest. more recently we went to see a meatloaf tribute, which was very good. there was a full house, and a good evening was had by all. [and don't forget, all this is free!] convertible car club meet and nostalgia music live band on wednesday eves. *** anyway, about the pub. its family run. as you might guess, its always very popular on entertainment nights. I can't say I've been there at other times. its out on its own as you leave the village, and so has plenty of parking. inside I wouldn't say its "plush" but its comfortable. it has a central bar with large-ish drinking area at the front and dining to the rear, [although you can probably sit anywhere during the day]. theres a wide range of meals with offers [2 for 10,etc], served I think most days, 12pm till 9pm. [weekends I think are carvery, and may differ]. I haven't eaten, so can't vouch. they advertise a wine bar area with tapas menu. not sure, but I think theres a family room at the rear as well. they say they also have en-suite rooms if required. usual kegs are on offer. There was one cask on when I visited. can't remember what. *** this is a few miles run for us in the car, so we don't go so frequently as we might! if you go, go for the meals or the live entertainment. I don't think you'll be disappointed. reynard - 23 Jul 2008 21:17 |
