It's been refurbished in a weird seaside, chrome and mirrors style which isn't remotely relaxing. 4 handpumps of which 3 are local. Quality is a bit unpredictable - we had to send back a pint of sour Deuchars. reynedd - 21 Aug 2014 21:39 |
Situated just the other side of the bridge from the Balloch House and next to the railway station that pulls in plenty of Glaswegians on sunny weekends. The pub's décor was a bit too modern for my liking. But it was fairly lively and did have 3 ales on - Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Loch Lomond Southern Summit & Harviestoun Schiehallion. blue_scrumpy - 18 Jun 2014 21:16 |
Visited on a lovely sunny day on Saturday afternoon during the pubs Beer festival, although it turned out it was more of the local brewers exhibition of three beers than a proper beer fest. I was on the fizzy stuff and was taken aback by the asking price of 4.75 a pint for Estrella! wow, thats a bit steep even for a Surrey drinker. But to the barman's credit, he did warn me before I ordered it so it was my choice to pay it. A large chain type pub, popular for food on a hot sunny day at Loch Lomond, but must be a bit grim on a wet wednesday in January. fetchman - 14 Aug 2012 10:57 |
back again this year, worst service I have ever had in a pub, and Ive been to a few. The beer was very sour but not quite as sour as the pathetic , slow rude barstaff. If you are going to be in a service industry learn to smile , learn to serve . If you got of the train here as a tourist and this was your welcome to Loch Lomond I don't think you would come back. Beer range and quality is nothing special. They had a Houston beer when we called in but we had to send it back, and with Deuchars also off there were no Scottish real ales available at all. On the plus side the food was fine and the staff were really, really polite and friendly. I'd definitely call in again - if only to see if the beer side of things has picked up again.
