user reviews of Romans Rest, Worksop

Went for the first time (Wednesday night 03/08/2011).
(the bill came to over 20 for two of us).
We both had starters - prawn cocktails, however they didnt come with any sauce, but had a separate tiny little pot on the side of the plate (I love the sauce and is the only reason I ever have prawn cocktail so was rather disappointed).
I had the sirloin steak and Cheryl had Fajita's. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, but was a bit too rare for me, could have done with a bit longer. It was supposed to be 8oz however had about 4oz of fat on it :( Beer prices were good and they did server John Smiths. Atmosphere was drab, there wasn't any background music playing though and all you could hear was chav FM every time the kitchen door was flung open. Does have a beer garden that looked like it would be good in the sunshine & even a kids play area at the end of the building.
Not somewhere I would rush back to, but the service was good (no one else in the pub though) and food was average for that kind of pub (could have been better). Not great value for money but wasnt a complete rip-off.

New-build pub on the edge of town. Celtic point is a new residential estate with a small retail park, and it looks like the pub is designed mainly to serve this.
Its a hardy-hanson pub, recently aquired by greene-king. A smart, clean place, consisting of bar and family dining areas, plus an indoor play center for kids, and outdoor/smoking area.
Varied menu and drinks, usually with a couple of greene-king cask ales on offer. IPA,abbot, etc. The ale is always well looked after.
meals are averagely priced. There is cheaper in the area.
worth a visit if you're in the area.
