| On the first and third Wednesday of every month the basement of this pub becomes the venue for Sweet Wednesday, a club for transvestites/ transexuals so, if you have any hang-ups in that area, best to avoid Wednesdays as there is bound to be a little seepage to the upstairs bar. If it sounds more interesting and more fun than your average Kings Cross offering, it might be worth saving your visit for a Wednesday. Your choice. stropmag - 18 Jul 2010 16:07 |
| I recall this place being boarded up for several years so I when I was walking past I felt the urge to call in out of curiosity. The open interior was fairly plain, rather dull and cheaply decorated with canteen style furniture and retro wallpaper. The rear section contains a pool table and there is a raised area which presumably doubles up as a stage given the spotlights aimed at it. Entertainemt seems to be in the cabaret / drag night mould (the place does lean towards being a gay bar but doesn�t ram it down your throat, figuratively speaking of course). The beer selection is hardly exciting and there are no Ales. Unlike the previous poster, I thought the place was overpriced however the food prices on the menu did seem quite reasonable compared to the drinks. There is an open staircase that leads to a restaurant and a rooftop terrace but I didn�t really feel the need to explore any further and can�t say that there is anything worthwhile to personally warrant a return visit. | Ok not the smartest pub I have ever been to but very friendly and inexpensive. I have had a few fun nights here so yes I go back , but if your looking for upmarket and classy forget it , it ain't thats sort of pub lovesapint - 4 Feb 2009 14:46 |
