Superb country pub with an emphasis on good food, with a cosy interior. On our visit over the bank holiday - it was bustling with a pleasant atmosphere. Really good efficient staff and dog friendly too. Didn't get chance to go in their beer garden, it looked really nice though. There's a little shop attached to the pub also. The beers were Black sheep bitter, black sheep ale, and a few guests, my favourite being Dent's golden fleece. All the food was superior to what you usually get, with locally sourced meat & fish (the fish terrine was lovely, the lamb shank was superb.) One of my favourites for a while. Brilliant pub, freindly staff, excellent beer and food. This pub is a hidden gem, with many motorists bypassing Ravenstonedale. It has a super beer garden over the road on a lawned area next to the local stream, which is a real delight after a sunny days paragliding in the Howgills. petemorris - 4 Jul 2009 16:50 |
Visited this pub over the August bank holiday weekend. It's fairly posh, with lots of people eating in the restaurant, but we had a couple of pints in the bar, where there were several tables, so it wasnt a problem. The beer was good... Black sheep and couple of local guests. You could also get tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The staff were friendly. At our afternoon visit (mucky from a bike ride) we sat in the pleasant outside area. Id go again if Im staying in the area. mooseo - 27 Aug 2008 18:21 |
