Cannot think of a finer place to spend a summer afternoon than the canalside beer garden at this idyllic spot. The pub is characterful and historic and is all you could want from a village pub. strangetorpor - 7 Jul 2015 21:52 |
Unpretentious pub in a great location, with good selection of beers. Spend some time here if you can. maybe - 13 May 2015 09:30 |
Lovely setting, great interior, dog-friendly, good beer. Pricey though. Expected to see it busier on a mild dry Saturday night but the London-bred landlord seems to prefer to run it as "my gaff for holding court with my clique", which isn't terribly conducive or convivial. Called in at lunchtime for a meal, quiet until 1 o'clock when it got busy. Nice location, tasty food, unobtrusive background music, good selection of beers and only one noisy child (with an even noisier mother). Possibly it may have changed hands since our last visit 18 months ago. aaahpub - 12 Apr 2012 15:42 |
The Navvie is always hit and miss for food and staff can be either amazingly pleasant or couldn't give a damn. One thing remains constant, good beer. Go there to drink, not to eat. There was a big screen in the main lounge last time I was there but hopefully won't be on all the time. jamforbrains - 24 Jan 2011 19:34 |
