another boozer with carpets blatantly soaking up the urine! you'd think sour faced landlady could invest in a bit of rug soap tight mare that she is. when i'm partaking of ale the eau de la yellow isn't a welcome fragrance that's for bleedin' sure! chelsea_greg - 18 May 2015 20:20 |
Love this place! Been an inn since 1447. Always 4 local real ales on the pump, local ciders too and a huge range of whiskies (I even tried a Welsh one in there the other day!) Excellent food - and the landlady's a vegetarian so vegetarians are well catered for too. Charming and quirky staff. And if you want to make a night of it, bedrooms with enormous and comfortable four poster beds so you only have to make it up the stairs. I live in Newquay but have become a regular here! Present owners have only had it about two years so any adverse comments that pre-date their ownership are out of date. Helel - 11 Oct 2014 09:54 |
Wonderful old inn in a beautiful Dartmoor village. The bar is full of history but unfortunately when I visited so was the beer! I took the first pint back and tried the other barrel but it wasn't much better. I'd like to go back but not sure if I'll risk it. Grumpy_Old_Man - 26 Jan 2012 19:33 |
Visited here a fews years ago after a long walk on the moors. Lovely inside very cosy (has a monalith in one of the back rooms). The building is very old and impressive. The beer garden is one of the finest i can remember seeing anywhere. Had four pints and loved every minute here. 10/10 montie49 - 26 Dec 2011 13:11 |
Stopped off for a drink here one day last week. Young lady behind the bar took 10 minutes to work out how much a pint and a glass of wine cost and how much change to give me. We were going to eat here but the dinner menu was so expensive. brightonboy3449 - 30 May 2011 06:24 |
