| Although under the same ownership as the Wig and Pen, Platillo's is very different. It has the feeling of an expensive chain bar, and indeed their intention is apparently to test the market and develop this into a chain. Downstairs is a popular bar, decked out in many different kinds of wood and somewhat bizarrely a dresser complete with plates. The bar has a lively atmosphere in the evening, but is dead during daytimes. It serves an unusual range of beers, generally very good, although there's barely one I've seen anywhere else. Prices are high by Sheffield standards, as are those of the tasty bar snack menu. Upstairs is a tapas restaurant, where prices are reasonable and the food is apparently very good.
