This place is no longer a Wetherspoons. But looking online, it appeared to have re-opened as a sports bar. So I thought I'd give it a go. It's now called Doctors. My experiences of former Wetherspoons premises tends to be fairy negative, as new owners struggle to cope with such large properties and the real ale tends to disappear. I was surprised to see 2 ales in this place - Pedigree & Hobgoblin. The interior has been refurbished quite nicely and it was actually doing quite a decent trade, with plenty of TVs showing both English and Scottish football. Not as good as a Wetherspoons. But a worthy replacement, in this instance. blue_scrumpy - 21 Feb 2017 20:30 |
Very slow service. A typical Wetherspoon pub. The usual crowd in there well before noon slowly drinking their way towards the grave. dpaajones - 18 Mar 2014 10:47 |
Visited in late Jan 2014 for late evening meal and also for breakfast. A typical Wetherspoon's establishment - what else is there to say? You largely get what you expect and pay for. One comment: unlike some JDW establishments we've visited, the toilets were less than impressive. Both on the Saturday night and Sunday morning the smell in the gents was less than pleasant. esp2006 - 30 Jan 2014 13:12 |
Great rear garden, good range of ales and cider with the usual cheap spooner prices but.... There is always a but! Bad service, always under staffed and it is soulless like most wetherspoons. billybraggscombiboiler - 29 Jul 2011 20:57 |
Another Wetherspoon pub for Gloucester opened about three years ago. Modern decor and not as large as many Spoon pubs. The usual cheap beer with a good selection of real ale and passable grub to line the stomach. Not much atmosphere and usually understaffed, but a nice garden out back and an acceptable stop for the thirsty shopper. SocietalHeretic - 24 Mar 2010 14:02 |
