Great little pub nestled away on the back roads coming out of Faversahm about 1/4 of a mile from the A299 , its well worth taking the time to find this pub as the food is excellent quality slightly expensive but i do believe that you get what you pay for.The beer is always in good condition , there is about 6 bar stools around the bar for drinkers and you can generally find 4 or five locals sat chatting. But it does tend to turn into a gastro pub for diners in the evening and so it should for the quality and value of the food.Beer was Masterbrew and Amber ale both Sheps and both in excellent nick! Lovely country pub! I say pub, but its more lika a gastro pub. The food is great with a bit of a french twist id say. Some people would probably think its a bit pricey but for what you actually get its really good value. Phil (the chef and owner) does all the cooking himself, from scratch. They also have a nice garden. smithy3 - 23 Jun 2010 15:29 |
Food orientated and slightly pretentious. Not the sort of place to go after a muddy walk through the countryside. The late red was lovely though. nickthefish - 15 Feb 2010 08:15 |
The stripped pine interor and log fire was good start, and the barmaid was very elegant, however in a pub with only two customers, she had to go and check with the chef to see if there was available seating for two lunches. The snootiness of this gastro pub slowly became apparent and my wife thought the Onion Soup was excellent though overpriced. The Sheps Late Red was fine. Groups of people started to arrive and judging by the Mercs, Audis and 4x4s in the car park, this wasn't our sort of pub. We felt a bit uncomfortable. I wonder what it's like in the evenings? Local country Shep's pub. Whitstable Bay and Master Brew on offer. Does Sunday lunches, but they should be booked in advance. Plain, simple, unpretentious interior. Good, warm, friendly atmosphere. Our food menu was 6 a head, but the regular menu when booked in advance is considerably more - the landlord's son does the cooking, and has trained in France. SilkTork - 9 Oct 2008 21:07 |
