Had a week in yorkshire on holiday and visited this pub twice this week. The girl that runs the food side is very helpful and has a delightful and warm manner. On tuesday we sampled the hotpot it was amazing and brilliant value for money. On friday I sampled the gammon and the award winning black pudding and by god does it deserve the award it was delicious. I would even consider a three hour drive, day trip to eat here again. Give it a try its a rare find! lol3d - 18 Jun 2011 15:18 |
Decent, dog friendly pub in small town / large village. Reasonably priced food, would recommend the meat pie, but order an extra portion of chips as, they seem to be rationed. Was driving so, stuck to shandy, so unable to comment on the beer, but seemed to have a few ales available, and it had the feel of a place that knew how to serve beer properly. son_of_odin - 12 Oct 2010 07:40 |
A traditional medium sized, stone built pub nestled away on the high street. There are two main rooms- a stone flagged tap room and a split level lounge. There is also an area to the rear housing a pool table. (Be aware that the dart board is in the corridor leading from the tap to the toilets!) The pub is cosily low ceilinged, featuring original beams alongside exposed stone walls. Three real ales on offer during our visit: Black Sheep Bitter, John Smiths Cask and Copper Dragon Golden Pippin. Despite Cask Marque accreditation the temperature of the Golden Pippin was way too cold. A shame as it looked clean and was well poured. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food plays a big part at the Crown, but as we didnt eat its difficult to comment. However, the smell of fried scampi (fish?) drifting out from the kitchen, into the raised area of the lounge, was rather off-putting. Something that needs addressing. Family friendly. Popular with locals. aleandhearty - 27 Apr 2009 12:45 |
Had an amusing hour or so in here during my stay in Pateley Bridge. Again, beer was fine but the old guy singing to his backing track was hilarious. Brought back memories of my childhood in Midlands working men's clubs! generalstaal - 17 Jun 2008 21:50 |
