The Bell & Bottle was my second pub in Shinfield yesterday afternoon. It's another decent pub with a good ale selection and a couple of ciders. The interior is fairly bright. There is a bar area and a separate games room with a TV that was presumably being used for World Cup football games. There was also a garden at the rear. Ales were Plain Sheep Dip, Yeovil Hopkandi, Bond Goldihops & Welton's Three Lions IPA. Ciders (and the Welton's ale) were remaining from a beer festival held 2 weekend's previous. They were Tutts Clump Rhubarb Cider & Rum Cask. The pub is opposite the village green, where a fair was being held. The pub is popular with families. blue_scrumpy - 16 Jul 2018 20:42 |
Visited Saturday afternoon. Good pub - excellent pint of Sheep Dip and the most beautiful barmaid in Berkshire. bob_g - 13 Sep 2015 07:56 |
Ate here with a friend. Very brown decor, but lovely friendly staff and a perfectly decent basic pub meal at a good price. Loads of car parking, comfy chairs, nothing was too much trouble. If you're after a relaxing basic pub with nice people, this is your one. featherways - 24 Apr 2013 20:02 |
Largish, multi-roomed pub with London Pride, 2 from Plain Ales available yesterday and Tutts Cider. Prices from £2.90. Pool table. Food wasn't sampled but the menu looked to be good value. Open all day except Mondays (1600). Beer quality was good. cheshirecat - 16 Mar 2013 09:24 |
A new manager took over the reins in November 2010. He is a Northerner(but don't hold that against him!). Since then the beer has been of excellent quality. London Pride is a permanent fixture with 2 others changing on a regular basis and mainly from local breweries. It's well worth popping in for a beer or two. The new guy is focussed on the pub being a pub that serves food NOT a restaurant with a bar. The Sunday lunch is excellent value for money at 6.95 and the midweek menu is also of good value with good traditional fayre at reasonable prices. mrandy1964 - 3 Jan 2011 17:56 |
