| The Gait was our second pub on a Sunday afternoon, sandwiched between the Fleece Inn at Bishop Wilton and the Carpenters Arms in Market Weighton. Neither of those are listed on the site. The Gait is a fairly small place with a public bar at the front and a dining room at the rear. All tables were taken on our visit. So we retreated to a small yard and garden at the back. Although there is only one solitary bench to sit on. The place is clearly very popular for drinkers and diners alike. Ales were Black Sheep Best Bitter, Tetley Cask, Theakston Best Bitter & Pennine Mad March. The only one of 10 pubs we tried in East Yorkshire that is in the current Good Beer Guide. | Lovely little family run village pub in a beautiful area of the Yorkshire Wolds that attracts lots of ramblers. It's completely unspoiled interior might look a bit grubby to some fussy types but I think it adds to its charm. Serves excellently kept cask ales too. Food is wonderful, huge portions of proper home cooked pub food, steak and ale pies and massive yorkshire puddings etc. Go for a walk round the village or up Millington Dale to work up an appetite then sit outside either at the back for some peace and quiet or at the front and watch the world ramble by. tigermum - 10 Mar 2008 14:20 |
