Fairly nice country pub. Although the welcome was slightly suspect. I'm never too impressed when the first greeting is "can I help you?". It suggests you're maybe in the wrong place or perhaps you might like to rob the place. An alternative could be "what is somebody like you doing in a place like this?". Nevertheless after necessary 'pleasantries' were exchanged, I did finally get served. The interior is fairly small, with a number of different partitioned areas. The garden is nice, with plenty of tables and a children's play area. Ales all on handpull were Downlands √13 Pale Ale, Long Man Best Bitter, St Austell Proper Job, Fullers London Pride and the ubiquitous Harveys Sussex Best Bitter.

Lovely village Pub. Under new management since November 2015. Some changes for the better........Seems very expensive, but the atmosphere is good. ....most of the old staff seem to have stayed so there is some continuity. Now open all day through the week and weekend which is great. Still has a good selection of Beer and a very good wine list. Food is fab though the menu has been much reduced ....

Called in at lunchtime when walking on the Literary Trail. A great village pub. Log fire and friendly welcome. Three real ales on handpump: Long Man Best, LM American Pale Ale and London Pride. Three ciders on the bar too. The APA was very good. There is an extensive menu and my fish pie was delicious. Highly recommended and we will call in again.

Super village pub, very nice atmosphere, rustic and cosy inside without being pretentious. Also a great selection of beers and ciders, and I had a good pint of Kings Old Ale from a barrel behind the bar. A place I will re-visit.

Called in for a drink last week with a few friends and wondered why we hadn't before. Great pint and not the silly prices you almost come to expect now. A couple of our group had food which arrived quickly and apparently hit the spot. Somewhere that deserves to succeed
