| Busy enough on a Saturday afternoon with a mix of people watching football on the plentiful amount of screens and others just having a beer and a chat. Having been lured in by the offer of 'cask ales', I was presented with a choice of IPA or Old Speckled Hen. Went for the latter, which was perfectly drinkable and £3.45 a pint. In the past I would've been happy just to find those two choices on offer at a boozer, but with real ale becoming more widespread, not so much any more. So, for the beer, would walk the extra five minutes down the road to the Red House, which does local ale from Olney. However, you can't knock what the owners have done at the Dove, and it certainly seems a thriving community pub with plenty going on. duchyjim - 24 Mar 2014 09:15 |
| A nice pub in a pleasant estate - locals are civilised and not unfriendly. Has live bands on Saturday nights sometimes which is why myself and the missus go there. BUT - don't expect decent real ale ! Last Saturday I had the worst pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord I have ever drunk. The Greene King IPA was marginally better - and the only other thing on offer - but sadly it was still Greene King IPA. They obviously have no idea how to keep or serve real ale, and could care less. I've learnt my lesson and I'll be on the soft drinks in the future and let the missus drink. The rest of you - if you're not into lager, tough luck ! gherkindangler - 11 Dec 2012 19:53 |
| The new owners of this pub have made it a much better pub! It is a great place to drink, lots of entertainment which means lot of fun! Meet new people etc. I would recommened this pub bobby1967 - 25 Feb 2010 01:42 |
